Spring 2025 at Sweet Pride Allevamento
As the seasons change, so does the rhythm of life at our kennel. Spring is one of the most active and exciting times for us at Sweet Pride Allevamento — new litters are planned, pairings are carefully considered, and the anticipation of welcoming new puppies into the world fills every day with purpose. Here's a look at what's happening in our breeding program and how we approach each litter.
Our Breeding Philosophy
At Sweet Pride, we approach every litter as a long-term commitment — not just to the puppies we produce, but to the families who will welcome them and to the breeds we are dedicated to improving. Our guiding principles are:
- Health first: All breeding dogs undergo certified health testing appropriate to their breed before any pairing is considered.
- Temperament matters: We select for stable, social, and trainable temperament in every generation.
- Breed standard integrity: Our dogs are bred to conform to the FCI standard in both structure and type.
- Transparency: We are open with prospective families about pedigrees, health results, and how our puppies are raised.
What Health Screenings We Require
For our Labrador Retrievers, breeding dogs are tested for:
- Hip dysplasia (HD) — official radiographic evaluation
- Elbow dysplasia (ED)
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) — DNA test
- Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC) — DNA test
For our Jack Russell Terriers, key screenings include:
- Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) — DNA test
- Late Onset Ataxia (LOA) — DNA test
- Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA)
How We Raise Our Puppies
Our puppies are born and raised inside our home — not in outdoor kennels. From day one, they are handled gently and regularly. As they grow, we introduce a variety of sounds, textures, people, and mild stimuli to support healthy neurological development. By the time puppies are ready to go to their new families (no earlier than 8 weeks), they have already begun socialisation.
Joining Our Waiting List
Demand for our puppies consistently exceeds availability, which is something we consider a reflection of the care we put into each litter — but it also means we maintain a waiting list. Here's how our process works:
- Reach out via our contact page and tell us about your family and lifestyle.
- We'll have a conversation (by phone or in person) to help match you with the right breed and puppy.
- If we feel it's a good match, we'll place you on our waiting list for a suitable litter.
- A deposit is required to secure your place — this is applied toward the final price.
- We provide regular updates with photos and videos as the litter develops.
Stay Connected
The best way to stay informed about upcoming litters at Sweet Pride is to reach out directly and subscribe to our updates. We share kennel news, photos of puppies in their new homes, and educational content regularly. We look forward to introducing you to our dogs and our world.
